ESA (Environmental Special Activities) Srl was founded in Naples in 1996. It quickly acquired remarkable expertise in protecting underground steel ducts from corrosion, thus drawing the attention of both private and public companies. For several years ESA worked to protect gas and water mains from corrosion, particularly large-scale networks, first in the Campania region and then throughout southern Italy. Thanks to the presence of young, capable technicians, the marketing and technological development of ESA has accompanied development in the organization.

Its growth has been characterized by great dynamism and the fundamental steps have been marked by technical-commercial agreements with such prestigious customers as public capital groups, consortiums and companies in the fields of water supply and land reclamation as well as top cooperatives nationwide. ESA continually upgrades its technical structure with specialized personnel and with the use of innovative technologies and instrumentation as they become available. In the year 2000, the DNV (Det Norske Veritas) agency certifies the Internal Quality System according to UNI EN ISO 9002 disposition for EA 28 sector and successively, in the year 2003, certifies the conformity of the aforesaid Management System to the new UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 disposition; currently this conformity is attested by RINA and it is also extended to EA 33 sector. Furthermore RINA certifies in the 2008 the Environmental Management System, according to ISO 14001:2004 R/N: IT 64165 disposition and in the year 2009 ESA is qualified to the execution of public works with SOA Certification.

And it is through technological innovation that ESA has drawn opportunities for development, above all focusing on the field of automatic identification with the introduction of the Smart Point® System, becoming exclusive distributor first in Italy and then for the entire European market. ESA has accrued a great deal of experience in cathodic protection of underground steel networks for the distribution of water and gas. It cleans underground networks, produces current dispersion units and designs and produces plants. Thanks to the professional quality of its technicians and its exacting Quality System procedures, ESA offers a high-quality interference detection service and runs measurement campaigns to check the insulation of underground steel electrical conduits.
In the field of electronics, ESA offers an integrated solution for component traceability in complex plants and the maintenance of these components. Using custom designed, exclusive management systems, it can contribute to recovering plant efficiency in the railway, distribution, industrial and health fields to name just a few.

Through an agreement with the mother company in Geneva, ESA acquired the patents for the Smart Point® System.
